There is no museum in the world that houses more iconic works than the louvre. But for me, it didn't flow well as a museum. For an establishment where you could spend the whole day there and not see the same thing twice, I found myself double backing on myself due to confusing layouts. Maybe that's just me, so before you go, Identify what you want to see, and make a plan. Afterwards wander!

I've been to a lot of museums around the world, and this ranks up there as one of the finest. Well worth spending at least a half day combing through the galleries.

Go early on a week day during off season. We unfortunately went when it was a holiday for the children in France, so it was packed. You need at least a full day, if not two days. Wear comfortable shoes, as there is so much to walk around and see. It is difficult to navigate as there is simply SO much, so definitely plan on enough time, getting a map and making a list of what is a must see on your list. Be prepared for crowds. The mummy, Angel of Victory and all of the Mesopotamian artifacts were just mind boggling to see.
